Join VIMS Professor Rob Hale and the marine educators at the Chesapeake Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve for the July Discovery Lab!
Marine debris is human-generated waste that has been released into the ocean either deliberately or accidentally. It has profound negative effects on marine life and human health, washing up on our beaches and congregating into huge gyres of trash in the center of each ocean. Participants in this lab will learn about the research being done to help solve the marine-debris problem, engage in hands-on activities to illustrate how marine debris can impact animals and ecosystems, and discover how we can all help to reduce marine debris in our oceans.
