Kids♥Art (Art Supply Drive)

The Gloucester High School National Art Honor Society is collecting art supplies for Elementary Art teachers to give out to their students who have shown a significant interest in art.

The goal of Kids♥Art is to provide drawing materials for these children over their summer vacation, including crayons, markers, sketchbooks, pencils, colored pencils, pencil sharpeners, etc. This drive is taking place until May 15th. Supplies can be taken to the Welcome Desk at Gloucester High School or Gloucester Main Library Branch. For more information contact 693-2526.

Namaste yoga classes will improve posture, flexibility, balance & strength as well as calming of your mind & lessening of stress!

This class is for ages 13 & older. Do you want to develop a balance of strength & flexibility? Hatha Yoga (Ha meaning SUN, Tha meaning MOON) refers to the balance of actions & reception–uniting the Mind/Body/Breath through classic Indian asanas (postures).

Join VIMS researcher Dave Stanhope as he discusses marine debris, from lost crab pots to plastic microbeads, and learn how scientists are working toward practical solutions.
The Virginia Institute of Marine Science and Yorktown Sailing Charters have partnered for “Science Under Sail” cruises aboard the 105-foot schooner Alliance. On Wednesdays in May, guest scientists from VIMS will share their knowledge of Chesapeake Bay and its marine life with passengers aboard the Alliance during 2-hour cruises on the York River.

The Alliance is a traditional 3-masted schooner that embarks from Yorktown’s Riverwalk Landing Pier, across the York River from VIMS. The 75-ton vessel can hold 49 passengers.
